In today’s world we live in we are all a very social, technology-craving, advanced group that put all of our information out there for all to see. It’s actually a great thing and can definitely get you noticed that is for sure. But one thing I have noticed (and that drives me absolutely insane) is that so many people on Twitter, Facebook or any social media outlets for that matter are posting the word “expert” to their profiles.
Okay honestly, who made you the expert in your field? Was it all the people got together and dubbed you “the expert” or did you get a petition going for others to sign that you were #1 in that industry (while also paying off some people…). I don’t know and I am not saying that everyone is like that either. So many people seem to abuse that word but also they are the people who spit out facts rather than are the ones who have lived and breathe what they preach. Why in the world would I listen to someone who has a masters, phd, fifteeen years of schooling etc. about how to run a business when they have never actually run a business?
It’s like in college where you take all these courses to prepare you for the work force but we all know good and well that the best way to prepare is to be experience it, not read it in books. The ones who have lived in your shoes (mainly entrepreneurs) are going to give you the dirty details of how they did it and all the ups and downs they had to go through. Business “experts” tend to fluff things as if we were in a perfect world and we are far from that. I don’t look to experts for advice, I look to the ones who have dirt on their hands, and on their knees from working hard to get where they are not someone who can spit out facts that they learned while sipping hot tea.
Is it just me or are there more and more “experts” and “gurus” popping up everywhere?
