When you create a business or you start something you’re working on most of the time it’s just you doing all the work until you’re ready for others to come aboard and help. As you get bigger you definitely need some more hands helping you not only get things done but in a fast way.
When you start to talk with others about what you do and what your goal is you need to make sure those people have the same passion and drive that you do. It’s easy for someone to say “oh that’s a great idea, would love to help!” but are they truly going to stand by what they say? If they don’t have the drive or are somewhat on the lazy side and just want to be a part of the success part then you don’t need to have them as a burden.
I’m very guilty of when I give others something to do and they don’t get it done within a time frame (or when I need it done) then I say “can I please have it back so I can make sure it gets done. That’s just how I am but you have to be like this at some times. Others may drag their feet because it’s not theirs and they think you have all the time in the world to get things done or that it can wait til tomorrow. It can’t.
When picking those to come aboard and work with you make sure they are like you and see the end goal of what you are trying to accomplish. Give them a task and see how they do with it before you bring them on. Because if you bring them on and think they will do great and end up dragging, it’s much harder to let them go after you have gotten to know them. Nobody knows your business like you do so make sure and put those in place that feel the same way towards your business as you do.
