About Me

Here’s the story (I so want to say “you think you know, but you have no idea…” ha!) I went to college on a volleyball scholarship and got a great education and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life.  I pretty much was in the that large category of undecided like most are at that time.  I finally changed a few times and stuck with Communications and Marketing.  For a long time I wanted to be in broadcasting but knew my heart was not in it and also that is only what I thought I wanted to do… I think something inside of me wast telling me for a long time that I was meant to be an entrepreneur but I just denied the thoughts I had about it because society instills in you to be a typical worker and work for someone else.  I was in that state of mind and mold until I realized “you know I can’t be another robot.”  So after coming back from Los Angeles and doing research for a documentary it hit me — the idea that my dad talked about with me right after I graduated college — BusinessBeware.Biz

I had decided to come to FL and work for the family businesses, even thought I always told myself I never would.  But it seems we end up doing things we never thought we would and that was one of mine.  It’s funny though how the road leads you somewhere you never thought you would go because working for and with the family I soon grew my passion for Business Beware.  I knew that something had to be done with the idea my dad had to provide an outlet for business owners.  So we created Business Beware (no joke, we actually came up with the name on a family cruise on a Carnival napkin) in 2007 and launched the site in 2008.  It’s been an amazing journey and the feedback has been even more amazing.  From being featured in BusinessWeek to creating a show based off the concept that just recently turned into a TV show is just such an amazing thing and I am truly blessed to have the chance to create this with my family.

One thing that I have truly enjoyed is the outstanding people I have met through this whole process with BB and the businesses that I have had the chance to learn about through the TV show. Another group that I am 100% proud to be a part of is the YEC. Scott Gerber is one of those people who just amazes you every time he speaks. He created the Young Entrepreneur Council to help young entrepreneurs all over the world to follow their dreams and create their own jobs while “never getting a real job” as he says. It’s one amazing organization and I am honored to be standing by the other members there. Make sure and take the time to check it out too.

I truly had no idea my life would lead me to where it is right now but I am grateful for the knowledge I have gained through what I have done and I am so glad of the path I took (definitely the one less traveled by…).  So many told me that things don’t work like that or something I wanted to do wasn’t possible, and since that day I have made every effort to prove them wrong…
